Created Date field for Documents, Journals and Master Records

User and date information on documents and master records is important for both internal and external auditing purposes. It is important to know who created a transaction or master record and when, who modified a master record and when, and who posted a transaction and when.

Understanding the sequence of events related to transactions and master records is often a clue to clearing possible issues or verifying approvals to changing transactions or master record data. In Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, the user ID is present on transactions in the system. However, the user ID could represent the user that created a transaction, but it also represents the user that posted a transaction.

The Created by User ID was added to the SL Overlay in the Spring release. To further provide the relevant information surrounding transaction creation and posting and master data creation and modification, the following fields are added to documents, journals and master record cards and related tables:

    • On all documents and Journals:

      • Created By User ID
      • Created Date
      • Date Posted
    • On all Master Records:

      • Created By User ID
      • Created Date
      • Last Modified By
      • Last Modified Date
