    Tile-Based Menu Navigation

Dynamics SL users are accustomed to navigating to screens, processes and reports by way of a hierarchically structured menu system that is role and module based. Dynamics 365 Business Central uses a search-based system where the user can type a menu item in the Quick Access pane, but the user cannot easily see which screens or reports they have access to view or use. To make the transition to Dynamics 365 Business Central easier, the SL Overlay created a tile/role based menu system.

You can access this new menu by selecting Module Menu from the Role Center page.

    Important

This option only displays for users in the Role Center if they are first assigned the SLO Basic Permission Set.

To navigate through the tile-based menu system, select a category (such as Financials, Inventory, Orders or Foundation). Once you select the main category, you can then navigate to more specific modules. In the example of Financials, once you select it, additional options appear:

    • Accounts Payable
    • Accounts Receivable
    • Bank Rec
    • Cash Manager
    • General Ledger

From each of these sub-categories, you can continue to drill down into specific pages. In the example of Accounts Payable, pages are available to select and are grouped by the type of page:

    • Maintenance
    • Input
    • Process
    • Inquiries
    • Setup
    • Reports

To open a page or report, select the page or report name found within the categories.

    Important

This menu navigation does not add permissions to view or interact with any of the pages or reports that display. The only pages or reports that display for a user are those to which the user has previously been granted access with Permission Sets for that page or report.
