Missing Data Notifications

In several setup pages in Dynamics 365 Business Central, you can save the setup page without entering data in key fields. The SL Overlay enables notifications when key fields are missing data. By enabling these warnings on your My Notifications page, you will receive a warning when exiting the screen when these key fields are not completed.

  • To enable the warnings, select the Enabled checkbox next to the notification.

  • To disable the warnings, deselect the Enabled checkbox next to the notification,

Below is a list of pages and notifications you may enable or disable notifications on when required fields are incomplete:

  1. Warn about missing Bank Account Nos.

    • If you exit General Ledger Setup without configuring the Bank Account No. field, you will receive a warning "The General Ledger Setup record has been saved without the Bank Account No. option setup. Bank account Nos. is required for Bank Accounts to be created in the system in Bank Account Card".

  2. Warn about missing Deposit Nos.

    • If you exit General Ledger Setup without configuring Deposit Nos., you will receive a warning"The General Ledger Setup record has been saved without the Deposit Nos. option setup. Deposit Nos. is required for Deposit to be created in the Default Deposit list setup.

  3. Warn about missing values in Number Series (AR)

    • If you leave any of the number series section values blank in Sales & Receivables Setup > Number Series section, you will receive a notification: "The Sales & Receivables Setup record has been saved without all of the options under the Number Series section configured. If the Number Series are not set up, you might be restricted from setting up other areas of the system. Are you sure you want to exit?"

  4. Warn about missing Tax Area Code (AR)

    • If you leave Tax Area Code blank in the Customer Card, you will receive a notification: "The Customer record has been saved without a Tax Area Code. The Tax Area Code option is a required field used to calculate and post sales tax processing in the system. Are you sure you want to exit?"

  5. Warn about missing Gen. Bus. Posting Group (AR)

    • If you leave General Posting Group blank in the Customer Card, you will receive a notification: "The Customer record has been saved without a Gen. Bus. Posting Group. The Gen. Bus. Posting Group is a required field used to link transactions made for this customer with the appropriate general ledger account setup in the general posting setup. in the system. Are you sure you want to exit?"

  6. Warn about missing Customer Posting Group

    • If you leave Customer Posting Group blank in the Customer Card, you will receive a notification: "The Customer record has been saved without a Customer Posting Group. The Customer Posting Group is a required field used to link customer's market type to link business transactions. Are you sure you want to exit?"

  7. Warn about missing Payment Terms Code

    • If you leave Payment Terms blank in the Customer Card, you will receive a notification: "The Customer record has been saved without a Payment Terms Code. The Payment Terms Code is a required field used that specifies the code that indicates the payment terms required for the customer. Are you sure you want to exit?"

  8. Warn about missing values in Number Series (AP)

    • If you leave any of the fields under the Number Series fast tab blank in the Purchases & Payables Setup, you will receive a notification: "The Purchases & Payables Setup record has been saved without all the options under the Number Series section configured. If the Number Series are not set up, you might be restricted from setting up other areas of the system. Are you sure you want to exit?"

  9. Warn about missing Tax Area Code

    • If you leave Tax Area Code blank in the Vendor Card, you will receive a notification: "The Vendor record has been saved without a Tax Area Code. The Tax Area Code is a required field used to calculate and post sales tax processing in the system. Are you sure you want to exit?"

  10. Warn about missing Gen. Bus. Posting Group (AP)

    • If you leave Gen. Bus. Posting Group blank in the Vendor Card, you will receive a notification: "The Vendor record has been saved without a Gen. Bus. Posting Group. The Gen. Bus.   11. Warn about missing Vendor Posting Group

  12. Warn about invalid account category

    If you exit G/L Account Categories without entering a description or leaving other values blank, you will receive a notification: "An invalid account category has been created and saved. Please edit or delete the record before continuing to exit the screen. Are you sure you want to exit?"

  13. Warn about invalid code (1099)

    If you exit 1099 Form Boxes without completing required fields, you will receive a notification "An invalid code has been created and saved. Please edit or delete this record before continuing to exit the screen. Are you sure you want to exit?"

  14. Warn about invalid code (Employee)

    If you exit Employee Posting Groups without completing required fields, you will receive a notification "An invalid code has been created and saved. Please edit or delete this record before continuing to exit the screen. Are you sure you want to exit?"

  15. Warn about missing values in Number Series (FA)

    • If you exit Fixed Asset Setup without completing the fields in the Numbering fast tab, you will receive a notification "The Fixed Asset Setup record has been saved without all the options under the Numbering section configured. If the Number Series are not setup, you might be restricted from setting up other areas of the system. Are you sure you want to exit?"

  16. Warn about missing FA Subclass Code

    • If you exit Fixed Asset Setup without completing the FA Subclass Code, you will receive a notification "The Fixed Asset Setup record has been saved without a FA Subclass Code. The FA Subclass Code is a required field that specifies the subclass of the class that the fixed asset belongs to and should not be left blank. Are you sure you want to exit?"

  17. Warn about missing Employee Nos

    • If you exit Human Resources Setup without completing Employee Nos., you will receive a notification "An invalid Employee No record has been created and saved. Please edit or delete this record before continuing to exit the screen."

  18. Warn about missing fields prior to exiting screen (FA)

    • If you exit FA Posting Groups* without completing required fields in the General, Balancing Account or Gross Disposal fast tabs, you will receive a notification "Some options have been left blank. By leaving options blank in this screen, transactions may not post correctly. Are you sure you want to exit?""

  19. Warn about missing values in Default and Numbering

    • If you exit Marketing Setup without completing required fields in the Defaults and Numbering fast tabs, you will receive a notification "The Marketing Setup record has been saved without all the options under the Default and Numbering sections configured. If the Default and Number Series are not setup you might be restricted from setting up other areas of the screen. Are you sure you want to exit?"

  20. Warn about invalid Name

    • If you exit from Item Attribute without completing Name you will receive a notification "An invalid Name has been created and saved. Please edit or delete this record before continuing to exit the screen."

  21. Warn about missing Reminder Terms Code

    • If you exit from Reminder without completing Terms Code, you will receive a notification "The Reminder record has been saved without a Reminder Terms Code. The Reminder Terms Code option is a required field that specifies how reminders about late payments are handled for this customer. Are you sure you want to exit?"

  22. Warn about missing values in Numbering (IN)

    • If you exit from Inventory Setup without completing all the options under the Numbering fast tab, you will receive a notification "The Inventory Setup record has been saved without all the options under the Numbering section configured. If the Number Series are not setup you might be restricted from setting up other areas of the system. Are you sure you want to exit?"

  23. Warn about missing values in Numbering (JOB)

    • If you exit from Jobs Setup without completing the fields in the Numbering fast tab, you will receive a notification "The Jobs Setup record has been saved without all the options under the Numbering section configured. If the Numbering options are not setup, you might be restricted from setting up other areas of the system. Are you sure you want to exit?"

  24. Warn about missing fields prior to exiting screen (TAX)

    If you exit from Tax Posting Setup Card without completing VAT Bus. Posting Group and VAT Prod. Posting Group fields in the General fast tab and Sales Tax Account in the Sales fast tab, you will receive a notification "Some options have been left blank. By leaving options blank in this screen, transactions may not post correctly. Are you sure you want to exit?"

  25. Warn about missing fields in Gen. Posting Setup

    If you exit General Posting Setup without completing Gen. Prod. Posting Group in the General fast tab, you will receive a notification "Some options have been left blank. By leaving options blank in this screen, transactions may not post correctly. Are you sure you want to exit?"
